On Monday 13 November 2017, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the Oaths and Affirmations of Allegiance to Senators Fraser Anning, Andrew Bartlett and Jordan Steele-John.

In the afternoon, at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Operating Officer, Ms Lisa Lynch, viewed the facilities and met with staff and patients.

On Sunday 12 November 2017, at Kangaroo Island Health Service and Aged Care Facility, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the Executive Officer and Director of Nursing, Mr Nigel Jefford, viewed the facilities and met with staff and residents.

Afterwards, at the Kingcote Men’s Shed, the Governor-General, as guest of the Vice Chairman, Mr Graeme Olsen, viewed the facilities and met with members of the shed.

On Saturday 11 November 2017, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director of the Australian War Memorial, Dr Brendan Nelson AO, attended the Remembrance Day National Ceremony.

In the afternoon, at Kangaroo Island Airport, the Governor-General was welcomed to Kangaroo Island by the Mayor of the Kangaroo Island Council, Councillor Peter Clements, and CEO, Mr Andrew Boardman.

On Friday 10 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of Legacy Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea for Legacy Widows.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from St Francis de Sale College, SA; and Dwellingup Primary School, WA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Thursday 9 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Ambassador-designate to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Ms Nicola Gordon-Smith.

In the evening, at the Australian National University, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Air Chief Marshall Sir Angus Houston AK AC AFC (Retd), attended the Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s Llewellyn Series Violin final concert.

On Wednesday 8 November 2017, at St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the State Funeral for the late Sir Ninian Stephen KG AK GCMG GCVO KBE QC.

In the evening, at the High Court of Australia, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Justice of Australia, Chief Justice Susan Kiefel AM, attended the ‘1917 – The Night is Darkest Before the Dawn’ concert.

On Tuesday 7 November 2017, at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman of the Victorian Racing Club, Mrs Amanda Elliot, attended the Melbourne Cup Day at which the Governor-General presented the 2017 Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy to the owner of the winning horse, Rekindling, Mr Lloyd Williams, who received the trophy on behalf of the winning connections.

On Monday 6 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, received the National President, United Nations Association of Australia, Major General Mike Smith AO (Retd).

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, at which the Governor-General, as Patron, presented the 2017 Churchill Fellowship Awards to ACT recipients.

On Saturday 5 November 2017, at Auburn Gallipoli Mosque, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guests of Dr Abdurrahman Asaroglu, met with staff, volunteeres and attendees of the Mosque’s Open Day.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented for the departure from Australia of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender, by Honorary Aide-de-Camp Group Captain Karon Millett ADC.

On Saturday 4 November 2017, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms Lynne Wood.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender.
