On Wednesday 27 September 2017, at Brussels National Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were farewelled from the Kingdom of Belgium by the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Dr Mark Higgie.

Afterwards, at Liszt Ferenc Airport, Budapest, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to Hungary by the Ambassador to Hungary, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia, His Excellency Dr Brendon Hammer.

On Monday 25 September 2017, at the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium's Residence, Brussels, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove met with the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Dr Mark Higgie and received a briefing.

Afterwards, at the European Parliament, Brussels, the Governor-General attended a meeting with the Chair of the European Parliament Trade Committee, Mr Bernd Lange.

Dublin, Ireland; Brussels, Belgium

On Sunday 24 September 2017, at Grangegorman Military Cemetery, Dublin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Park Superintendent, Mr Paul McDonnell, conducted a tour of the cemetery and the graves of Australian and New Zealand Service Personnel, during which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath beneath the memorial stone.

Dublin, Ireland

On Saturday 23 September 2017, at Balbriggan Men’s Shed, Dublin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman of the Irish Men’s Sheds Association, Mr George Kelly, viewed the facilities and met with members of the shed.

On Friday 22 September 2017, at Arthur Cox Headquarters, Dublin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Irish-Australian Chamber of Commerce, Mr Peter Oakes, attended a breakfast meeting and addressed members of the Irish-Australian Chamber of Commerce.

Glasgow, United Kingdom; Dublin, Ireland

On Thursday 21 September 2017, at Balmoral Castle, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended an audience with Her Majesty The Queen.

In the afternoon, at Dublin Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the Republic of Ireland by the Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Ireland, Mr Feilim McLaughlin and the Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, His Excellency Mr Richard Andrews.

Canberra, ACT

On Tuesday 19 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students from Moreton Bay Boys School, QLD; St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, WA; and Singleton Primary School, WA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

In the morning, at Darwin Convention Centre, Darwin, the Governor-General was represented at the State Memorial Service for the late Geoffrey Yunupingu, by Honorary Aide-de-Camp, Commander Viktor Pilcic ADC RAN.

Canberra, ACT

On Monday 18 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch for the Australian War Memorial’s 2017 Soldiers in Residence participants. Guests included: Major Stuart Jones; Mr Gerard Pratt; Corporal Thomas Quirke; and Mrs Robyn Siers.

Canberra, ACT

On Sunday 17 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) as the Presiding Officer, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a Citizenship Ceremony in recognition of Australian Citizenship Day, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove formally welcomed 24 new Australian citizens.
