On Tuesday 3 July 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.

At the European Parliament, the Governor-General attended a meeting with Ms Elżbieta Bieńkowska, the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and members of the European Australian Business Council (EABC).

On Monday 2 July 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chairman of the France-Australia Business Council, Mr Hervé Guillou, attended a business roundtable with members of Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) and the European Australian Business Council (EABC), at MEDEF Headquarters, Paris.

On Saturday 30 June 2018, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended a Program Briefing with His Excellency Mr Brendan Berne, Ambassador to the Republic of France, at the Australian Embassy, Paris.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove welcomed Mr Mark and Mrs Julie Wallace and participants completing a bicycle ride from London to Paris in memory of Sara Zelenak (killed in the 2017 London Bridge terrorist attacks), at the Promenade des Australiens.

On Friday 29 June 2018, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited the TERRA Research Centre at the University of Liege’s campus in Gembloux, Belgium. As guests of Professor Fredric Francis, Dean, and Professor Eric Haubruge, Vice-Dean, Their Excellencies inspected the University’s Agro-Bio Tech facilitates, and received a briefing on collaborative projects between Belgium and Australian universities.

On Thursday 28 June 2018, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended a program briefing with His Excellency Mr Justin Brown PSM, Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union and NATO, at the Royal Palace, Brussels.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove participated in a wreath laying ceremony and rekindled the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

On Wednesday 27 June 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Professor Nichi D’Amico, visited the National Institute for Astrophysics and received a briefing on co-operative efforts between Italy and Australia on the development of the Square Kilometre Array radio telescope.

On Tuesday 26 June 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended a Wreath Laying ceremony at Rome War Cemetery and inspected the graves of Australians killed in action during WW1.

On Monday 25 June 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove met with His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of State of the Holy See, at the Apostolic Palace, Vatican City.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with His Eminence the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, Holy See.

On Sunday 24 June 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, were welcomed to the Italian Republic by His Excellency Mr Greg French, Ambassador to the Italian Republic and Her Excellency Ms Melissa Hitchman, Ambassador to the Holy See, at Ciampino Military Airport, Rome, Italy.

Afterwards the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received a program briefing from Ambassador French and Hitchman.

On Saturday 23 June 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, were welcomed to the United Arab Emirates by the Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Arthur Spyrou.
