On Wednesday 16 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a parade at Lavarack Barracks, Townsville, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Coral. At the parade, the Governor-General presented the new Regimental Colours to 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, and affixed a Unit Gallantry Citation streamer in recognition of the unit’s actions during the Battle of Coral in the Vietnam War.

On Tuesday 15 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited the Great Barrier Reef on the research vessel ‘Tamora’, as guests of Director, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Dr Russell Reichelt.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a post Cyclone Debbie briefing from Mr Matthew Boileau of Hamilton Island Enterprises at the Hamilton Island Marina, and met with members of the local community.

On Friday 11 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Australian American Association’s Battle of the Coral Sea commemorative service at Blamey Square, Campbell. Their Excellencies attended as guests of President, Australian American Association Canberra, Mr Robert Sroczynski, and laid a wreath during the service.

On Thursday 10 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Ambassador John Berry, President, American Australian Association, and former United States Ambassador to Australia.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch for Service Warrant Officers of the Navy, Army and Air Force at Government House.

On Wednesday 9 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the 30th anniversary of the opening of Parliament House as guests of the the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Tony Smith MP, and the President of the Senate, Senator the Honourable Scott Ryan.

On Tuesday 8 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, attended the Australian Defence Force Association’s Chief of the Defence Force Cup, as guest of President, Air Marshal Leo Davies AO CSC, at Fairbairn Golf Course, Canberra.

Afterwards, Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath at the Nurses and Midwives Remembrance and Thanksgiving Wreath Laying ceremony, as guest of Director, Australian War Memorial, The Honourable Dr Brendan Nelson AO.

On Monday 7 May 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Prior, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for members of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.

Earlier, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Golden Bay Primary School, WA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Friday 4 May 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Order of Australia honours and bravery decorations. In the evening, the Governor-General hosted an Investiture Dinner.

On Thursday 3 May 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, hosted Investiture Ceremonies for Order of Australia honours and bravery decorations.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented by Honorary Aide-de-Camp, Group Captain Karon Millett ADC, at the departure from Australia of the President of the French Republic, His Excellency Mr Emmanuel Macron.

On Wednesday 2 May 2018, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, met with the President of the French Republic, His Excellency Mr Emmanuel Macron.

Earlier, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Eltham College, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
