On Thursday 28 April 2016, at the Government Guest House, Helsinki, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended a briefing by the Australian Ambassador to Sweden, Finland, Latvia and Estonia, His Excellency Mr Gerald Thomson.

Afterwards, at the Presidential Palace, Helsinki, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Republic of Finland, His Excellency Mr Sauli Niinistö and Mrs Jenni Haukio, attended a Welcome Ceremony.

Paris, France

On Wednesday 27 April 2016, at the Monnair de Paris (French Mint), the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Christophe Beaux, visited and activated the striking machine for the first strike to complete the process of fabricating the first medallion honouring Australian sacrifice in WWI.

Paris, France

On Tuesday 26 April 2016, at the Hôtel de Ville (Paris Town Hall), the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove met with the Mayor of Paris, Ms Anne Hidalgo and signed a commemorative parchment.

Afterwards, at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France), the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Ms Laurence Engel, viewed the Louis XIV globes showing New Holland.

Villers-Bretonneux, France; Paris, France

On Monday 25 April 2016 in Villers-Bretonneux, France, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended an Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Australian National Memorial, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath and the Governor-General delivered a commemorative address.

Afterwards, at the Town Hall, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Villers-Bretonneux, Dr Patrick Simon AO, attended a breakfast.

Amiens, France; Villers-Bretonneux, France

On Sunday 24 April 2016, in Amiens, France, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, received the First Assistant Secretary, Commemorations and War Graves, Department of Veteran’s Affairs, Major General David Chalmers AO, for an Anzac Day briefing at the Mercure Amiens Cathedrale Hotel.

Afterwards, at the Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, the Governor-General attended a commemorative ceremony, at which the Governor-General laid a wreath at the former resting place of the unknown Australian soldier.

Paris, France

On Saturday 23 April 2016, at the Australian Ambassador’s residence in Paris, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to France, His Excellency Mr Stephen Brady AO CVO and Mr Peter Stephens, attended an informal dinner.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

On Friday 22 April 2016, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Arthur Spyrou attended a reception for staff at the Ambassador’s residence.

Bangkok, Thailand

On Thursday 21 April 2016, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), sent the following message to Her Majesty The Queen:

“Lynne and I, with all Australians, extend to Your Majesty our best wishes and loyal and affectionate greetings on the occasion of your 90th birthday.”

On Monday 18 April 2016, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Second Session of the Forty-Fourth Commonwealth Parliament, at which the Governor-General opened the session and addressed the Parliament.

Sydney, NSW

On Sunday 17 April 2016, at the Sydney Opera House, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the International Festival of Language and Culture, at which the Governor-General officially opened the Festival.
