On Friday 7 April 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor- General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Australian High Commissioner to the Republic of Nauru, Mr John Donnelly.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, received the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Divavesi Waqa MP and Madam Louisa Waqa.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for His Excellency the Honourable Baron Divavesi Waqa MP and Madam Louisa Waqa.

On Thursday 6 April 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted an afternoon tea for Variety Victoria Brat’s Bash.

In the afternoon, at Defence Establishment, Fairbairn, the Governor-General was represented for the arrival to Canberra of the President of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Waqa, and Madam Louisa Waqa, by Mr Paul Singer MVO, Acting Deputy Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

On Wednesday 5 April 2017, at Defence Establishment Fairbairn, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, by Mr Mark Fraser LVO OAM, Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

On Tuesday 4 April 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General, as guest speaker, and Lady Cosgrove attended the dedication of the Flanders Fields Memorial Garden.

On Monday 3 April 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor- General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Australian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr Richard Feakes.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, received the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for His Excellency Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

On Sunday 2 April 2017, at the Nepean Men’s Shed, Orchard Hills, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Michael Siegle, viewed the facilities and met with members of the shed.

Afterwards, at the Sydney International Rowing Centre, Penrith, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of Rowing Australia, Mr Rob Scott, attended the 2017 Sydney International Rowing Regatta and presented the medals and trophy for the King’s and Queen’s cups.

On Saturday 1 April 2017, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove hosted an Investiture Ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested the Honourable Robert Ellicott AC with the insignia of the Companion of the Order of Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea for Assistance Dogs Australia. Assistance Dogs Australia relies on the generosity of the community and businesses.

On Friday 31 March 2017, on Hamilton Island, the Governor-General, General the Hounourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Island, Mr Glenn Bourke, was briefed on the impact of Tropical Cyclone Debbie and the subsequent recovery efforts.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr Bourke, viewed cyclone affected properties and met with volunteer response clean-up crews.

Later, at Hamilton Island airport, the Governor-General met with passengers being evacuated from the island.

On Thursday 30 March 2017, at the National Portrait Gallery, Parkes, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest speaker, and Lady Cosgrove attended a diplomatic briefing for the Commonwealth High Commissions in preparation for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

On Wednesday 29 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received video calls from students attending Moree Public School, NSW; and Mt St Benedict School, NSW, as part of their civics and citizenship classes.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students from Kilvington Grammar School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
