On Tuesday 19 July 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Instrument of Appointment and Oath of Office to the Prime Minister, the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General issued the Instruments of Appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective offices.

On Thursday 14 July 2016, at the Champs Elysées, Paris, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the French Republic, His Excellency Mr Franҫois Hollande, led Australia’s representation at the Bastille Day (French National Day) parade, at which Australia was selected to be the ‘Country of Honour’.

On Wednesday 13 July 2016, at the Hotel InterContinental Paris Le Grand, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove received the Australian Defence Attaché (Commemorations), Colonel Scott Clingan for a Bastille Day briefing.

In the evening, at the Hôtel de Brienne, Paris, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the French Minister of Defence, Mr Jean-Yves Le Drian, attended a reception.

On Tuesday 12 July 2016, in Paris, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to France, His Excellency Mr Stephen Brady AO CVO and Mr Peter Stephens, attended a dinner at the Australian Ambassador’s residence.

On Monday 11 July 2016, following the departure of the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), from Australia to France to lead Australia’s representation at the Bastille Day commemorations at which Australia has been selected to be ‘Country of Honour’, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.

In the evening, at Government House Sydney, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, attended a dinner.
