Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Director-General of Security, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, Mr Duncan Lewis AO DSC CSC.

On Monday 9 May 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Mr Mark Fraser LVO OAM, read the Governor-General’s proclamation to dissolve the Senate and the House of Representatives.

In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for Paint the Town REaD.

On Saturday 7 May 2016, on Sydney Harbour, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as the guest of Commodore Brian Robertson AM (Retd), attended the 2016 League of Ancient Mariners lunch.

In the evening, at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Waratahs Rugby, Mr Andrew Hore, attended the Waratahs versus Cheetahs Super Rugby match.

On Friday 6 May 2016, at the Reinhold Batschi National Training Centre, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the 2016 Rowing Team Leader, Mr Jaime Fernandez visited the 2016 Australian Olympic Rowing Team and observed their time-trial on Lake Burley Griffin.

On Thursday 5 May 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

On Monday 2 May 2016, at the Bayan Palace, Kuwait City, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Chief Executive Officer, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah.

Afterwards, at the Al-Qurain Martyr Museum the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Director, Mr Ahmad Al-Tattan received a guided tour.

On Sunday 1 May 2016, at the Bayan Palace, Kuwait City, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended a briefing by the Australian Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, His Excellency Mr Warren Hauck.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Later, the Governor-General received the Speaker of the National Assembly, His Excellency Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

On Saturday 30 April 2016, in Kabul, Afghanistan, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) met with Australian Defence Force personnel based at Kabul International Airport.

Afterwards, at the Sapedar Palace, the Governor-General met with Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Abdullah Abdullah.

Later, at the Presidential Palace, the Governor-General met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Ashraf Ghani.

On Friday 29 April 2016, at the World Trade Centre, Helsinki, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), attended a Business Breakfast Meeting hosted by the Finland Australia Business Council, Finland Chamber of Commerce, and Finland International Chamber of Commerce.

Afterwards, at the Government Banquet Hall, the Governor-General met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Finland, Mr Juha Sipila.
