On Monday 29 August 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of the Australian Olympic Committee, and Lady Cosgrove hosted a welcome home reception for the Rio 2016 Australian Olympic Team.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Craigslea Primary School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Thursday 25 August 2016, at Bondi Icebergs, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron and guest of the President of Surf Life Saving Australia, Mr Graham Ford AM, attended a ceremony to officially re-opening of Surf House, at which the Governor-General also presented the National Rescue of the Month Awards for January, February and April.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as guest of the President, Mr Ken Rennie, attended the Australian Golf Club’s War Memorial and War Service Trophy Golf Day.

On Friday 26 August 2016, following the departure of the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), from Australia to New Zealand, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC.

On Wednesday 24 August 2016, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of the Australian Olympic Committee, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chief Executive Officer of Qantas Airways, Mr Alan Joyce, attended a welcome home ceremony for the Rio 2016 Australian Olympic Team, at which the Governor-General addressed the Olympians.

On Tuesday 23 August 2016, at the Roma Sale Yards, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the General Manager, Mr Terry Hyland, received a tour of the facilities by local volunteer guide, Mr Jim Scott, and met with members of the farming community.

Afterwards, at the Great Artesian Spa, Mitchell, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a community reception.

On Monday 22 August 2016, at Roma State College, Roma, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Mr Anthony Green, visited the Middle Campus, where they met with students from years 4 to 8.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Honourable Bruce Scott and the Mayor of Maranoa Regional Council, Cr Tyson Golder, visited Roma town centre and met with members of the community.

On Saturday 20 August 2016, at ANZ Stadium, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of Australian Rugby Union, and Lady Cosgrove attended the Australia versus New Zealand First Test match of the 2016 Bledisloe Cup.

On Friday 19 August 2016, at the New South Wales Teacher’s Federation Conference Centre, Surry Hills, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair of the National Board, Professor Margot Hillel OAM, attended the 70th Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and announced the award winners.

On Thursday 18 August 2016, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) as guest speaker, and Lady Cosgrove attended a Stand-To Service to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan and Vietnam Veterans' Day, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General met with students from Nichols Point Primary School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

n Wednesday 17 August 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

In the morning, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Dr Anna Elisabeth Prinz, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Susanne Körber (First Secretary) and Ms Marie Kronberg (First Secretary).
