On Monday 11 July 2016, following the departure of the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), from Australia to France to lead Australia’s representation at the Bastille Day commemorations at which Australia has been selected to be ‘Country of Honour’, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.

On Sunday 10 July 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove hosted a music afternoon featuring a performance by the Harvard University Krokodiloes.

On Saturday 9 July 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea for the 20th anniversary of Assistance Dogs Australia.

In the evening, at Government House Sydney, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, attended a dinner.

On Friday 8 July 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the 150th anniversary of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

On Wednesday 6 July 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended a presentation by Mr Paul House to commemorate the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week.

Kalgoorlie, WA

On Tuesday 5 July 2016, at Bega Garnbirringu Health Services, Kalgoorlie, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Mr Fabian Tucker, visited the clinic and met with patients and medical staff.

Afterwards, at the Goldfields Arts Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of CEO of Country Arts WA, Mrs Jessica Machin, visited the Tjuma Pulka NAIDOC Week Markets.

Perth and Kalgoorlie, WA

On Monday 4 July 2016, at Government House Perth, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Governor of Western Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson with the insignia of the Companion of the Order of Australia.

On Friday 1 July 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received the Ambassador-designate to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Ian Biggs.

Afterwards, at Portsea Oval, Duntroon, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chairman of the Australian Defence Force Rugby Union, Major General John Frewen AM, attended the Australian Defence Force versus Australian Police inaugural Rugby Union match.

On Thursday 30 June 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received General Manager Submarines of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, Rear Admiral Stephen Johnson USN (Retd).

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr Burhanudeen Gafoor.

Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to The Holy See, Ms Melissa Hitchman.

On Wednesday 29 June 2016, at the Hyatt Hotel, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the High Commissioner for Canada, His Excellency Mr Paul Maddison, attended the Canada Day reception to mark Canada's 149th birthday.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chairman of the Wise Foundation, Mr Graeme Wise, and Mr Robert Wise and Mr Mark Campbell of Be Collective.
