In Yungaburra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Afghanistan Avenue of Honour Association, Mr Raymond Byrnes, and Founders, Mr Gordon Chuck and Mrs Susan Chuck, attended a commemoration ceremony and met with community representatives.

Afterwards, at the Yungaburra Community Hall, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a community reception hosted in their honour.

At Innisfail State College, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Ms Kate McDonald, met with students and staff.

In Townsville, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Townsville Regional Council, Councillor Jenny Hill, visited Jezzine Barracks and in recognition of National Volunteers Week, met with representatives of local volunteer organisations.
