On Wednesday 16 April 2014, at Sydney Airport, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, welcomed Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George of Cambridge to Australia.
Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, received The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George of Cambridge.
On Monday 14 April 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General General, the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove spent time with families, staff and volunteers at Ronald McDonald House in Randwick, NSW. Randwick is one of 13 Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia which provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children undergoing treatment.
The Tribal Warrior mentoring program received a visit from the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern, NSW. The mentoring program takes a holistic, grassroots approach by combining exercise, assistance and referral services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth of all ages to form good habits, guide by example, acknowledge achievements and include everyone. The program is run in association with the Redfern Local Area Police Command’s “Clean Slate Without Prejudice” initiative.
On Saturday 12 April 2014, at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence, Redfern, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Tribal Warrior Association, Mr Shane Phillips, met with participants of the Indigenous mentoring program.
Afterwards, at Ronald McDonald House, Randwick, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia, Mr Malcolm Coutts OAM, met with families and staff.
On Friday 11 April 2014, at Government House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, met the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE.
Afterwards, at The Australian Club, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Club President, Mr Roger Davis, attended the Services Dinner.
The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a reception at the Sydney Cricket Ground to welcome home the Australian women’s cricket team, the Southern Stars, following their International Cricket Council World T20 Cup win, in Bangladesh. The Southern Stars made history with their third consecutive WT20 title, after beating England in the final by six wickets.
On Wednesday 9 April 2014, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended a reception to welcome home the Australian women’s cricket team, the Southern Stars, following their winning of the International Cricket Council World T20 Cup.
The Rats of Tobruk Association of Victoria hosted a morning tea for the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, at Tobruk House in Albert Park, Melbourne.
