Credentials; Reception for the Board of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust

On Tuesday 18 June 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received from his Excellency Mr Hussain Shihab, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the High Commissioner of the Republic of the Maldives.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the President of the International Diabetes Federation, Sir Michael Hirst; the CEO of Diabetes Australia, Professor Greg Johnson; the President of Diabetes Australia, Ms Moira Watson and Diabetes Australia Ambassador, Mr Guy Barnett.

Governor-General meets Australian Defence Force working in London

At the Australian War Memorial in London, the Governor-General laid a wreath in memory of those who lost their lives during World War I and World War II.

Afterwards, at Stoke Lodge, Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce, as guests of the Defence Chief of Staff, Commander Richard Donnelly RAN, attended an event with Australian Defence Force personnel working in the United Kingdom.

Governor-General gives keynote address at Australian Business lunch

The Governor-General delivered the keynote address at an Australian Business lunch with business leaders from Australia and the United Kingdom.

In the evening, at the Australian High Commission, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chairman of the Royal Institution of Australia, Mr Peter Yates AM, and Former Director of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, Baroness Susan Greenfield CBE, attended an event to mark the 5th anniversary of RIAus.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards; Deaf Society of New South Wales; Official visit to the United Kingdom

On Wednesday 12 June 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received a farewell call by the Consul-General of the Republic of Korea, Mr Jin Soo Kim.

Afterwards, at St. Stephen’s Uniting Church, the Administrator, accompanied by Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, presented Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards and Awards to Coordinators.

In the evening, at Government House, the Administrator, as Patron, hosted a reception in support of the Deaf Society of New South Wales.

Governor-General visits St Paul’s Way Trust School in London

At the St Paul’s Way Trust School in London, the Governor-General, as guest of Lord Andrew Mawson OBE and the Headmaster, Mr Grahame Price, attended a briefing on the social enterprise transformation project before meeting school students.

Later, the Governor-General, as guest of the the Vice Chancellor of London Metropolitan University, Professor Malcolm Gillies AM, and the Manager of the London Accelerator Program, Mr Richard Celm, met students and young Australian entrepreneurs at East London Tech City.
