On Friday 7 June 2013, at Legacy House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as Patron, presented Certificates of Appreciation at the 80th Annual General Meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of Sydney Legacy.
In the evening, at the Sydney Opera House, the Administrator, as Guest of Honour, attended the opening night of Bangarra Dance Theatre Australia’s Blak, followed by a post-performance reception in the Concert Hall, Northern Foyer.
The Governor-General and members of the European Australian Business Council attended a forum hosted by the Slovak Atlantic Commission, the Centre for European Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
In Bratislava, the Governor-General and members of the European Australian Business Council attended a meeting hosted by the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, His Excellency Mr Robert Fico.
The Governor-General was ceremonially welcomed to the Republic of Slovakia by the President, His Excellency Dr Ivan Gašparovič, at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava.
Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce later met with the President and the First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs Silvia Gašparovičova.
On Thursday 6 June 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for Malta, His Excellency Mr Francis Tabone, accompanied by the Consul General for New South Wales, Mr Christopher Mercieca.
In the evening, at Macquarie University, the Administrator officially opened the Deb Bailey Motor Neurone Disease Research Centre.
At the European Council in Belgium, the Governor-General attended a meeting with the President of the European Council, Mr Herman Van Rompuy.
Afterwards, at the Silken Berlaymont Hotel, the Governor-General, in the company of the Director-General for Enterprise and Industry for the European Union, Mr Daniel Calleja Crespo, officially launched the inaugural Australia-Europe Leadership Dialogue.
The Governor-General met the King of the Belgians, His Majesty King Albert II, at the Royal Palace Laeken in Belgium.
At the Palais des Académies in Brussels, the Governor-General attended an event with Belgian and Australian business leaders.
Afterwards, at the Colonne des Congrés, the Governor-General laid a wreath at the Belgian Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
On Wednesday 5 June 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received the Chief Executive Officer, National Mental Health Commission, Ms Robyn Kruk, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ms Georgie Harman.
Later, at Parliament House, Sydney, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, as guests of the Australian Monarchist League, delivered an address at a lunch to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Coronation of Her Majesty The Queen.
