On Thursday 21 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr Mark Sawers.

The Governor-General, as Patron and as a guest of Group Training Australia Chairman, Mr John Ackland, and Deputy Chair, Mr Michael Bennett, met with participants in the 2014 "Today's Skills: Tomorrow's Leaders” program, at the Australian Institute of Sport, Bruce, ACT.

On Wednesday 20 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received from His Excellency Mr Bakir Sadović, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Dinko Tomac (Counselor). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Merdijana Sadović.

At Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, at which the Governor-General, as Patron, presented the 2014 Churchill Fellowship Awards to ACT recipients.

On Monday 18 August 2014, at the School of Military Engineering, Moorebank, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief and in recognition of Vietnam Veterans Day, attended a service to commemorate Sappers lost in Vietnam.

On Sunday 17 August 2014, at the Singleton Showgrounds, New South Wales, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a brunch in recognition of the centenary of the Australian Red Cross and viewed the centenary exhibition.

Afterwards, in Cessnock, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of the Police Citizens Youth Club – NSW, Mr Darren Black, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the Cessnock Police Citizens Youth Club.

At the Singleton Showgrounds, NSW, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove attended a community event and exhibition in recognition of the centenary of the Australian Red Cross.

In Cessnock, NSW, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the CEO PCYC NSW, Mr Darren Black, and the President Cessnock PCYC, Mr Peter Rosemond CSC OAM, attended a ceremony at which they officially opened the Cessnock Police Citizens Youth Club.
