Brett Pollock OAM
Mr Brett Pollock OAM was recognised in the 2026 Australia Day Honours for his outstanding service to the Mosman Park community and to men’s health in Western Australia.
Brett has been a driving force in the growth of the Men’s Shed movement, championing connection, community and belonging for men and other groups through shared activities and common interests. Reflecting on the honour, Brett said:
“I believe this award will elevate awareness of men’s health through participation in community Men’s Sheds. It will create pride within the diverse community of Mosman Park and encourage more people to become enthused in volunteering for enrolment in diverse community activities.”
As a founding member and Chair of the Mosman Park Community Menshed, Brett has helped guide the organisation’s remarkable growth. The Mosman Park Shed now has more than 300 members, contributing to a broader movement that has seen around 100 new Sheds established across WA. Today, Men’s Sheds operate across Australia and in 12 countries worldwide.
Brett’s involvement began at the Mosman Park Shed and quickly expanded. He went on to serve as Chairman of the WA Men’s Shed Association and as a Board Member of the Australian Men’s Shed Association, where he continues to promote Men’s Sheds as a vital contributor to men’s health and community wellbeing.
However, Brett's community commitment extends far beyond the shed. Across his 55 years of community service, he has spent 20 years with the Rotary Club of Mosman Park and held numerous roles in local government, including serving independently as CEO/Shire Clerk of both Murchison Shire and Shark Bay Shire.
He also served as Chairman and State Representative of the Meekatharra School of the Air P&C and was a catalyst in re‑activating the Pia Wadjari Reserve and establishing a Pia Wadjari settlement for the local Yamatji people. In addition, he played a significant role in the growth and promotion of Outback Tourism, chairing multiple tourism bodies.
Brett's passion for Local Government work led him to complete a Local Government Diploma, further advancing his expertise. He explains, “I have always been drawn towards helping individuals and community groups."
Brett says he is “surprised by this honour and by the many messages from a diverse range of people, all stating ‘well deserved’.”
Congratulations, Brett, on the well‑earned recognition.
